My Story

I inherited my love of babies from my dad. I started babysitting in my community when I was 11 years old and haven't stopped working with children and families. Toward the end of my high school years, I became a certified nursing assistant and worked a nursing home. In college I started out in a nursing program and then switched to get an American Sign Language/English Interpreting Degree. Throughout my schooling I was a nanny.

The year after I received my degree, I had my first child, and now I have three beautiful children. It was after having my own babies that my compassion for fellow moms and parents grew. I have a passion for serving and caring for new and changing families.

I chose Dawn Doula Services as my business name after my sister, Angie. Her middle name was Dawn and she is always on my heart and mind. Though no longer here on earth, she is still impacting my life. She also loved babies; we used to fight over holding babies and babysitting jobs. I also love how the name Dawn can represent new life and new beginnings: perfect for the birth of a child. I chose Services because I have a passion to serve, and also because I love serving families both as a Birth Doula and as a Postpartum doula with the plan to add more services in the future.

Certified Labor Doula

Well-Rounded Maternity

I started Dawn Doula Services LLC in 2018 when I became a certified labor doula with the intention of adding postpartum services, which I did the following year. In 2020 I became a Hypnobabies Hypno-Doula. I serve Lake and McHenry counties in northern IL and Kenosha, Racine and Walworth counties in SE WI.

As a labor doula, I love supporting moms and their partners through the prenatal period and as they plan for the birth that they want. I enjoy forming a relationship with my clients and learning how to best serve them. Being able to be a part of the team and getting to witness the miracle of birth are blessings I do not take for granted.

As a postpartum doula, I love serving the whole family and watching as each member grows and adjusts to welcoming a new baby home. It's certainly a life changing time, and I love getting to be another set of hands as well as listening to and encouraging new parents on the adventure. It's an honor to be invited into homes and lives and to serve the family. It is both beautiful and sad when it's time for me to stop physically supporting a family - it's so satisfying to see parents gain confidence in their new role, but I miss them when I no longer get to see them on a regular basis!

I can support you as a Birth doula, Hynpo-doula, or a Postpartum Doula individually or as a combination. Getting to continue a relationship on from the prenatal stage well into the postpartum period is one of my favorite things and why I wanted to add postpartum services to my training.

I am a different person because of Jesus and his love for me, and I pray for each and every one of my clients. If you want me to pray for you or support you spiritually, then please don't hesitate to ask.
